File Notes

Covenant forces attempting to control all of Coldsnap have captured all bases except for the Spartan Flag, and Spartan main UNSC Base. The Cov forces have succeeded in taking the bridge and have dropped in supplies to sustain their invasion force. A final assault has begun on foot by squads of Elite Majors, Elite Stealths and White Gruntos, Hunters, and Elite driven Fr_Ghosts and Wraiths. Spartans have placed two lines of defensive barracades to protect the the main teleporter entrance to their base; however, Stealth Elite are slipping through and attacking the few Spartans guarding the interior of the Base.

The three Pelicans used for repelling the initial Cov invasion force have all been destroyed, and the two Longswords were also obliterated by a Mythos captured by the Covenant, but not before being vaporized by one final direct hit from a Longsword's nuke.

One final Spartan team tried to stop the invasion force by delivering a modified rocket launcher that fires neutron enhanced radiation warheads, but their Pelican was shot down in the mountains by the Mythos before it was destroyed. Unfortunately, the final Spartan team was never heard from again. It has been discovered that Cov Wraiths have been modified to be highly resistant to nuke explosions and radiation.

The Spartan primary objective is to stop the Cov overrunning their defensive positions, and seizing the main UNSC Base. The Cov onslaught must be stopped at all costs, but unfortunately they seemingly have infinite reinforcements. The rest of Coldsnap cannot fall to the Covenant due to its great strategic importance to the UNSC. The Spartans still maintain control of their Main Base, and the Red Flag Base.


THE MOD:
As with Coldsnapwar, several modifications have been made to the map, including mods to scenery, vehicles, devices, etc. Tags for Mechs and Missile Warthogs have been removed to make room for AI. New portals have been added to allow entry and exit from each base, but are guarded by AI. Each Team's Flag base is also guarded by AI. If picking up Spartans on the battlefield, to get them to exit a Pelican, use the devmode console command "ai_exit_vehicle spartan1". If you use a Pelican to pick up spartans that are guarding the team base portal, guarding their flag or guarding the Pelican/Ghost base, you should use "ai_exit_vehicle spartan2", "spartan3", "spartan4", or "spartan defense". These Spartans will charge and attack the covenant when transported to the battlefield. The same goes for the Covenant, but substitute "covenant1", "covenant4", covenant5", "covenant6" or "covenant7" to get them to exit a Pelican. Both Spartans and Elite will fire the rear Pelican gun, and some of the AI will drive Fr_Ghosts, Wraiths, and Warthogs into the battle from the various bases.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
This is primarily fun for solo play, but other players can join the battle and change to blue team for a joint effort to help the covenant battle the spartans, or vice versa. The "Time-of-Day has been disabled so that AI will not turn to statues when the BSP has changed. It works very well on our Dell 530s desktop with Intel Dual-Core and 256 MB ATI Radeon, as well as a Sony Vaio laptop with Dual-Core and dedicated 256 MB Nvidea. It may work on some older machines if some graphic features are sacrificed or tweaked down a bit, otherwise it might clip and lag somewhat.


Unzip the folder to your desktop, move the coldsnapwar_endgame.map into your Halo Custom Edition\maps directory, or unzip it directly to maps directory.


Known Issues:
Elites will climb over the hog driver in order to get into the passenger seat, and will not fire a gun.
Elites sit in a turret position when firing/spinning around the warthog's gun.
