Texrat's Map List - Decoy

Map Name

Preferred Mode(s)
CTF, Assault, Team King of the Hill*

Detail: Other than a few novelty maps, large custom maps for the most part haven’t done well.  In fact, the legacy maps that receive the most criticism in my experience have been Infinity and Desert Island.  Decoy manages to avoid this stigma through solid design, including effective use of teleports.  After its initial release, Decoy enjoyed a significant amount of play but I have not seen it come up in some time.  That’s a shame, as there are few larger maps where team play is this much fun.  It is, in my opinion, too large for Slayer modes.  *As for King of the Hill, I haven’t seen it come up so I don’t know if that mode was ever enabled, but it sure would be a hoot to play on this map!

Tips: Control the middle, just as is crucial in the legacy Danger Canyon.  You will always need at least one defender at base.  There are few easy opportunities to stop a flag-bearing warthog, so cooperation and diligence are key.
