How Do I Play the Single Player Campaign Maps in Halo CE
All of the single player campaign maps in the Halo PC version have been converted to run on Halo CE. You can obtain them from the section of the website labeled "Single Player Halo CE Maps" . Each of the levels and some other single player levels are available for download. Note: There may be several versions of one or more levels. Those levels are most likely modified in some way.
For the full single player campaign Download the maps:
- Single Player A10 Level - The Pillar of Autumn
- Single Player A30 Level - Halo
- Single Player A50 Level - Truth and Reconciliation
- Single Player B30 Level - The Silent Cartographer
- Single Player B40 Level - Assault on the Control Room
- Single Player C10 Level - 343 Guilty Spark
- Single Player C20 Level - The Library
- Single Player C40 Level - Two Betrayals
- Single Player D20 Level - Keyes
- Single Player D40 Level - The Maw
Extract them from their ZIP archives an place them into the \maps folder (see: Where do I put the maps I downloaded? ) NOTE: These levels will NOT appear in the standard Halo CE map display nor is there a "campaign" option in the standard Halo CE program.
There are two options for running these single player maps:
1) Run from the Console.
To run these levels from the console you first need to have your console enabled. see this article for details on changing your start up Icon to enable the console.
To run these levels from the console you first need to have your console enabled. see this article for details on changing your start up Icon to enable the console.
Start Halo CE
When you get to screen where you select the "Multiplayer" selection option hit your Tilde [~] Key to bring up the console
In the game console type: map_name {name of map} then hit return. Example to run the desertplat.map level type "map_name desertplat" or to run the Halo Level "map_name a30"
2) Replace your UI map file:
The UI map file is a "User Interface" file located in your \maps folder. It controls the menu options on the start up screen. Several map designers have created custom versions of the UI.map file that also includes the menu options to run the campaign single player maps.
You can obtain the Custom User Interface file Replacements from the Custom UI Files"section of the website.
Download one of the custom UI files that supports the "campaign menu".
Download one of the custom UI files that supports the "campaign menu".
To use these files you must first backup the original UI.MAP file - place it in a holding folder - then replace the UI.MAP file with one of the ones in from that section. The UI.MAP file is located in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\maps directory. Remember to backup your original UI.MAP file BEFORE replacing it.
The following UI map files are known to support the "Campaign" menu (note: others may as well)
- Library UI (User Interface) Map file replacement
- D40 Custom UI (User Interface) Map file replacement
- Endurance UI (User Interface) Map file replacement
- Orange UI (User Interface) Map file replacement
Once you replace your UI map file with on that supports the campaign levels you can re-start Halo CE and select "campaign" to play the single player levels
