What do I need to run the FREE Halo CE game?
The Halo CE (Custom Edition) game is a free stand-alone program for registered users of the Halo PC game. It was developed by Gearbox Software the company that developed the Halo PC retail version of the game. You can obtain the Halo CE (Custom Edition) game and custom maps from ]http://www.halomaps.org. The Halo CE game is designed to use custom content. The editing kit allows you to create custom maps.
In order to install the Halo CE (Custom Edition) game you MUST own a copy of the Halo PC Retail version of the game, have the Halo PC Retail version CDROM and the CD Product Key number which is printed on the yellow sticker labeled "Product Key". You MUST have the CDROM inserted into your CD Drive to install and run the game. If you do not have the physical CDROM and the correct CD Key you will not be able to install or run the game. Installing the Halo CE game will not affect or change your Halo PC Game they can both run on the same computer.If you wish to join a server running a custom map you must have the map that the server is running already installed.

Yes you can. There is an editing kit available that allows you to create your own maps. However it is not a point and click process. You need to have a 3D editing program like 3DS Max or GMAX and some 3D modeling skills. The HEK (Halo Editing Kit) is a series of programs used to develop maps and there is a step learning curve to master these programs. - Will Halo CE download custom maps for me?
No. Halo CE does not have in-game downloads. You must have a copy of the map in your \maps folder before you can join a server running that map. - Where can I get custom maps?
